Job Description

The Assistant Payroll Manager position is responsible for ensuring timely completion of Payroll processes including: processing and implementing court-ordered wage garnishments and legal documentation, including but not limited to child support, commercial debts, defaulted student loans, and tax levies. They also research and process unemployment claims, hearings, and audits to reduce liability, provide customer service to employees, vendors, government agencies, and legal counsel, and process subpoenas and other documents for Legal Department. Furthermore they are responsible for assisting Payroll team as needed with payroll processes and other projects, and assisting HRIS Analyst with daily processes, reports, and web administration.

Essential Functions:

  • Processes and implements wage garnishments, legal documentation.
  • Process weekly payroll.
  • Assist, as needed, with processing bi-weekly and bonus payroll and vendor files.
  • Troubleshoot and recommend resolution to payroll and tax issues. 
  • Assist with special projects and audits related to payroll.
  • Complete subpoenas and wage statements for payroll, legal, or worker's compensation.
  • Provide customer service to employees, vendors, government agencies, legal counsel, other.
  • Assist Payroll team as needed with timecards, other projects.
  • Provide written and verbal verification of employment, unemployment audits, separation notices, other.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations  where some standardization exists; interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Required Experience
  • The minimum requirements for this position are a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or at least 4 years of specific experience and/or training related to the essential functions of the job; or equivalent combination of education and training.
