Construction Manager in Charlottesville, VA at 84 Lumber

Job Description

Manages construction projects under the supervision of the Senior Construction Manager for a large geographic region.

Essential Functions:

• Directly manages all subs and/or GC's for 10-25 projects at a time ranging in complexity from industrial new builds including railway spurs and excavations/land prep/ steel work to simple renovations paint & powder renovations.
• Revise/ value engineer to meet field's budgetary constraints.
• Assist Project Manager in building initial budgets on projects and revising these throughout the construction process
• Coordinate/ assist bid process and contractor selection.
• Manage construction and confirm facility is move-in ready for the field (FFE, signage, telecom services).
• Closeout project with contractors and field.
• Coordinate with internal and external resources to assure racking, merchandising, FFE, telco, etc. are informed and moving in sync with subs and field personnel to hit opening dates and budgets.
• Assist field with misc. construction requests.
• Provide status updates to the Development group (schedules and picture documentation)

• Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred combined with 5 to 8 years of related work experience.
• Experience working with industrial use and railways is a plus.
• Strong estimating capabilities 
• Extensive travel required
