Job Description


A Door Shop Manufacturing Trainee will learn all aspects of manufacturing operations by working in one or more of our millwork plants. You will become experienced in each phase of manufacturing, learn how to efficiently operate a production door line, understand how door machines work and how to maintain a safe work environment. You will learn all aspects of door shop office operations which includes the process from entering door takeoffs into the POS system through invoicing the customer. You will gain the experience needed to be in a leadership role in one of our current or new facilities.


  • Learn all aspects of production, distribution, warehouse, shipping, installed services and related safety categories.
  • Train in sales and administrative related categories including inside sales, outside sales, order processing, system functions, pricing, all related accounting functions such as invoicing, etc.
  • Equipment Safety, Preventative Maintenance and LEAN Manufacturing.

  • Ability to define problems, collect date, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Learn to read blueprints and create material lists.
  • Respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers.

Work Environment
  • This position can involve working outdoors or being exposed to wet, humid, extremely hot or extremely cold conditions. May require working in a highly precarious place and near moving mechanical parts. There may be risk of electrical shock. The position may be exposed to vibrations, airborne particles or toxic chemicals.

Physical Demands
  • This position involves frequently standing, walking, use of hands, reaching, talking, listening and writing. Periodically lifts up to 80 pounds, stoops, crouches. Rarely sits, climbs, balance and crawl.

Supervisory Responsibility
  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
  • This is a full-time position. Hours of work depends on hours of operations, 45 hours per week.
